LOVELAND, Ohio (WKRC) - A dinner Saturday night, April 8, honored of a fallen soldier from the Tri-State. The annual Never Forget Scholarship Dinner takes place to remember Matt Maupin, who died after being captured in Iraq in 2004. This was the 12th year for the dinner and was put on by the Yellow Ribbon Support Center, a foundation created by Matt's father. The dinner was at the Oasis Conference Center in Loveland. The keynote speaker was Thomas Hamill. He was in the same convoy as Maupin at the time of his capture. Hamill escaped 22 days later. "As we all know Matt didn't come home, he didn't come home like I did. I walked home, walked off the plane. I'm here to remember him and be with Mr. Keith and all the other Gold Star families," said Hamill.
